Mr. Butler is a trial lawyer who has been lead counsel in almost one hundred jury trials.  He focuses his practice on business disputes, employment litigation, products liability defense and construction litigation.  In addition to civil litigation, Mr. Butler also represents clients in administrative hearings and investigations.

He has successfully represented businesses and individuals in contract disputes, including non-competition and separation agreements. He has defended civil actions involving manufacturers of windows, cementitious flooring products, gas grills, construction tools, and carpet tiles.  He has represented parties in construction project disputes concerning office buildings and high-end condominiums.  Mr. Butler also has represented parties in administrative hearings and investigations involving charter school charters, teaching certificates, and campaign finance laws.

Mr. Butler is a former prosecutor in Middlesex County.  His trial work as a prosecutor involved preparing and cross-examining experts in the fields of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), psychiatry, internal medicine, accident reconstruction, and ballistics. He is a faculty member for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.
