Experience:
Christopher A. ("Chris") Duggan is one of the founding partners of the Firm. Mr. Duggan is one of the most active civil trial lawyers in Massachusetts. Since 1985, he has tried over 100 cases to verdict in federal and state courts across Massachusetts. He is national trial counsel for several multi-state corporations, and regularly appears in courts throughout the United States for clients with commercial interests that span state lines. His clients range from multinational corporations and Fortune 500 companies to smaller local companies, start up enterprises and individuals in litigation involving commercial and intellectual property disputes, product liability claims and other types of high profile, media sensitive matters.
Mr. Duggan is the president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, open to those who have tried at least 20 cases to verdict. ABOTA is dedicated to the preservation of the Seventh Amendment Right to a civil trial by jury, and to promoting civility and ethical practice among the trial bar. As president, he has created a number a new programs for the state chapter including the James Otis Lecture Series, and helped make the Massachusetts Chapter one of the most active in the country.
Mr. Duggan is a past-president of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association, and sat on the MDLA Board of Directors for more than a decade. He was also elected to the International Association of Defense Counsel, and sits on the Commercial Litigation, Product Liability and Aviation and Space law committees. He is a long time member of the Defense Research Institute, and also sits on the Commercial Litigation and Production Liability committee as well as the Hand and Power Tool Subcommittee.
Mr. Duggan was one of the originators of the Justice Cup Golf Challenge, a match play golf tournament that pits defense lawyers against the plaintiff bar in a match play golf tournament for the benefit of St. Jude Research Hospital. This unique tournament, now in its sixth year, has raised over $250,000 for St. Jude's one of the world's leading research facilities for the treatments of Leukemia, AIDS, and other devastating childhood diseases.
Mr. Duggan is a frequent lecturer at programs run by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education ("MCLE") the Massachusetts Bar Association ("MBA") and the MDLA on trial techniques and substantive law of commercial and product liability law. Mr. Duggan is a graduate of the Emerson Spies School of Law at the University of Virginia (1984) where he was on the winning team in the William Minor Lile Moot Court Competition (1984). He graduated summa cum laude from Boston College in 1981 where he was elected to several academic honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu (International Jesuit Honor Society), Phi Alpha Theta (International History Honor Society) and the Order of The Cross & Crown (the College of Arts & Science's Honor Society) serving as the Knight Commander in 1980-1981.
