Congratulations Tamara Lee Ricciardone, an Exceptional Colleague for 26 Years, on Your Judicial Appointment

The partners of Smith Duggan Buell & Rufo proudly congratulate Tamara Lee Ricciardone on her appointment as Administrative Judge of the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents. Nominated by Governor Charlie Baker and unanimously confirmed by the Governor's Council, her appointment will take effect on October 14, 2020.

Tamara has served as the head of the firm's workers' compensation defense team for more than a decade. She has extensive experience handling workers' compensation claims for both insurers and self-insurers.

She has lectured at educational seminars on current topics in defending workers' compensation claims and has authored several articles on workers' compensation topics. She is the editor of Workers' Compensation Practice in Massachusetts and the reviewer of Massachusetts Workers' Compensation Law Sourcebook and Citator published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.

The workers' compensation practice will now be led by Pauline A. Jauquet, a Smith Duggan Buell & Rufo partner with extensive experience defending leading Massachusetts hospitals and self-insured employers at each of the DIA offices across the Commonwealth. Since joining the firm in 2009, Polly has focused on workers' compensation law for more than a decade while also bringing to this field an excellent background in complex litigation.

"This is a bittersweet moment for all of us at Smith Duggan Buell & Rufo as we bid farewell to Tamara," said Managing Partner Barbara Hayes Buell. "She has been a wonderful colleague and trusted friend to all of us. She will make an outstanding addition to the bench while serving the best interests of all of the people of the Commonwealth."

"We believe Tamara's selection also reflects especially well upon the entire firm and the workers' compensation practice in particular. Polly is exceptionally well qualified to continue to employ the very best practices within this area of the law that has marked the cornerstone of this practice within our firm for these many years," Barbara added.
